To check ragging, GSVM team escorts new entrants to class, markets

KANPUR:With a view to ensuring that no new entrant faces ragging, GSVM Medical College sent its anti-ragging task force with the MBBS first year students when they went shopping.

The task force comprises teachers and security guards.

The team members also accompanie­d the new students to their classroom on the third day in the college on Saturday.

Nearly 190 students, including 125 boys and 65 girls, got admission to MBBS course at the medical college this year.

The medical college has also made elaborate arrangemen­ts to check ragging and provide safety to the students.

Besides issuing strict warning to senior students against ragging, the college management has set up the task force.

The students who took admission on Thursday visited the local market to make some purchases. They were escorted by the guards of the task force.

The new students were also escorted by the teacher members of the anti-ragging committee and the security guards while going to the classes from their hostels.

The college management has also introduced a helpline number and an e-mail address over which students can make direct complaint round-the-clock.

Principal, GSVM Medical College, Dr Navneet Kumar said 28 members of the helpline team will attend the complaints and take action immediatel­y.

The circle officer, Swaroop Nagar police station, has also been included in the helpline.
