‘Swarnabhasma raises kids’ immunity’

-

Children in Bharwara village in Sahjanwan area of Gorakhpur have neither fallen ill due to common ailments nor due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) this year. The credit for this, among other steps, is being given to ‘Swarnabhasma’ -- an ayurvedic preparation that is being given to the children here for the past 10 months. The preparation is known to boost immunity in kids and adults.

“We have recorded the general fitness of children. We found three key indicators,” said Prof Sandip Tiwari, in-charge of the outreach cell of the King George’s Medical University (KGMU), which is monitoring the administration of ‘Swarnabhasma’ to kids. Prof Tiwari said children who had been anaemic recorded higher levels of haemoglobin within a few months. “Secondly, they did not take ill due to common ailments such as cold, cough or seasonal illnesses. Third, they did not fall prey to JE, despite Gorakhpur being one of the high risk districts for the disease,” he said.

“No child is falling ill due to seasonal problems or JE, which indicates that immunity levels have gone up. However, we plan to further document evidences and make a bigger plan for the children of the state,” said Prof Tiwari, who will be visiting Sahjanwan on Thursday to administer the last dosage of the trial phase. He said that although some children got monthly doses of ‘Swarnabhasma’ and many others skipped more than two doses, immunity levels were found high in all of them.
