AGRA:A Noida-based woman has accused the grandson of a BJP MLA of misbehaviour and sexual harassment at a hotel in Agra, police said. A case has been registered against Kunal Chaudhary, grandson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Fatehpur Sikri Chaudhary Uday Bhan Singh, police added.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Agra, Amit Pathak has handed over the investigation to circle officer of Chatta area Ritesh Kumar Singh.

Refuting the charges, the MLA said his grandson had been framed by people running a betting racket. Lodging an FIR at Chatta police station, the victim said she had come to Agra with her friends to shoot a documentary. “My friends and I were having dinner on September 24 at a hotel on Yamuna Kinara road. Kunal Chaudhary, the grandson of MLA Uday Bhan Singh, was having drinks in the same hotel,” she said. The woman alleged that Kunal tried to sexually assault her and thrashed her friends when they tried to save her.

She told the police that Kunal and his 8-9 friends tried to drag one of her friends in their car but the hotel staff rescued them.

A police officer privy to the investigation said a case had been registered under sections 354 (a), 364, 511, 323, 504 and 506 against Kunal and his associates. He said the footage of CCTV cameras would be scanned. Meanwhile, the BJP MLA alleged that his grandson was being framed by people involved in running a betting network. “A boy named Golu Vaishya was trapped by those running betting network and being a friend, my grandson tried to help him. In retaliation, these elements framed my grandson,”he said.
