Social media campaign launched to popularise Kumbh, tourist places
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh tourism minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi launched a social media campaign aimed at popularising Kumbh Mela and state’s other tourist sites at a function held at Paryatan Bhawan on Thursday.
The campaign was launched to mark World Tourism Day.
Besides, the minister also appealed the masses to share about state’s tourist places on the social media in order to boost tourism and also help the state government reach out to tourists.
“Nothing could serve as the best medium to propagate Kumbh Mela and other beautiful tourism spots in state than social media, especially in this age of digitalisation. I also appeal people to share details about tourist places and other attractions of state on their respective social media account in order to reach out to the tourists,” said Rita Bahuguna Joshi, UP tourism minister, while addressing a seminar at Paryatan Bhawan on the subject ‘tourism and the digital transformation’.
She said UP has many beautiful tourist places, the only drawback is that these are not promoted.
She said social media campaign would aim at promotion and to bridge the gap between the curious tourists and the tourism department by providing correct information about the places, food and culture.
On the occasion she also gave the slogan—‘Bharat chalo to UP chalo, kyuki UP nahi dekha to bharat nahi dekha’ and launched videos highlighting the culture and tourists spots of Uttar Pradesh.
She also directed department to enhance its reach and said so far around 47 lakh people have obtained information from the Uttar Pradesh tourism department’s website, and more than 4 lakh social media users from its twitter handle and around 3 lakh from its Facebook page.
