PROBE ORDERED AFTER PHOTOS, VIDEO GO VIRAL

-

LUCKNOW: King George’s Medical University has initiated a probe into the alleged ragging of the first year batch, after photographs and a video showing freshmen saluting while returning from classes went viral on the campus.

“Ragging is banned and is a criminal offence. We have initiated a probe to identify the senior students though they cannot be seen in the video,” said chief proctor Prof RAS Kushwaha. The video showed students coming from the Kalam Centre after classes and going towards the department of Anatomy. While moving they were saluting people on the other side of the road, supposed to be senior students.

The proctor said that security guards who walk along with the fresh batch of students and are seen in the video shall be asked to identify those on the other side of the road and action will then be taken against them. “Even if we fail to identify the culprits, entire senior batch shall be given a warning. But we’ll not let the episode go without action,” he said.

“We had instructed the senior batch to abstain from any kind of ragging and to ensure safety of the freshmen, guards have been employed. Also, the students are kept in separate hostels for the entire first year,” he added.

Even if we fail to identify culprits, the senior batch shall be given a warning. But we’ll not let this go without action.
