LUCKNOW : Two constables, Neeraj Mathur of Bareilly and Brijendra Tomar of Lucknow, were suspended for indiscipline by state police administration on Saturday. The two had allegedly posted ‘derogatory’ messages on social media in support of the accused in Apple executive Vivek Tiwari murder case. Meanwhile, the SIT will record the statements of at least 30 people, including police personnel and an IPS officer, before reaching a conclusion in the case.

LUCKNOW: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) will record the statements of at least 30 people, including police personnel and an IPS officer, before reaching a conclusion in the murder case of Apple executive Vivek Tiwari, who was allegedly shot dead by a police constable Prashant Chowdhary in Gomti Nagar extension on the night of September 28.

These statements will be crucial in probing the role of the police personnel accused of shielding the two constables who allegedly shot Tiwari dead, and in trying to manipulate the facts.

“The SIT is probing all aspects of Vivek Tiwari’s killing that included the reason behind the incident, circumstances behind his killing and people allegedly shielding the two accused constables. We have prepared a list of 30 people whose statements will be recorded to probe all these aspects,” said a senior police officer associated with the SIT constituted to investigate the matter.

He said the list included the IPS Chakresh Mishra, who is presently posted as Circle Officer (CO) of Gomti Nagar, the then Station House Officer (SHO) of Gomtinagar police station DP Tiwari, who has since been removed from the post for irresponsible behaviour in the incident, and constable Prashant’s wife, Rakhi Malik, who is also a constable and posted in the same police station.

He said Prashant and his colleague, Sandip Kumar, had reportedly informed the inspector and the CO after opening fire on the SUV of Vivek Tiwari.

Moreover, Prashant’s wife, Rakhi, was accused of accompanying the lone eyewitness of the case, Sana Khan, and for questioning her allegedly to manipulate the facts in favour of her husband, he added.

The official said the SIT would also record the statements of the second police patrol team that reached the shot but alive Vivek Tiwari, when his SUV rammed into the pillar of underpass below Shaheed Path.

He said the second patrol team only took Tiwari to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

He said the statements of the doctors, who attended on Tiwari in the hospital, would be recorded to understand the circumstances under which the deceased was admitted to the hospital.

Earlier, the statement of Sana Khan was recorded before the court on Thursday while the statements of the two constables lodged in Lucknow district jail were recorded on Thursday and Friday.
