LUCKNOW : Scientists and ecologists on Saturday stressed on energy conservation and urged the students to educate their near and dear ones about this aspect to promote environmental conservation and sustainable use of resources, environment-friendly lifestyle.

Conservation of energy remained the main agenda during the Green Good Deeds session organised at the Neptune hall of Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on the second day of country’s 4th International Science Festival .

The aim behind the session was to promote environmental conservation, sustainable use of resources and promotion of environment friendly lifestyle.

“It’s now or never. We have to understand what we are leaving for our future generations,” said Dr Ashok Kumar, director, bureau of energy efficiency, ministry of power.

Kumar also cited his own example, saying he had grown up in a cold place and spent his childhood playing on thick glaciers.

“But now the glaciers have all gone. I am surprised that over 100-years-old glaciers no longer exist . It calls for an introspection,” he said.

Kumar urged the children to propagate the word of energy conservation among their families and associates and to educate them on this.

Dr AK Mehta, additional secretary, ministry of environment and forests, professor CR Babu from Delhi University and SP Yadav, secretary, UP were also present.
