Three station in-charges (SHOs) of these police stations were also transferred on Friday for laxity in duty. Also, two terminated constables, Brijendra Yadav and Avinash Pathak were arrested from Varanasi and Mirzapur for instigating constables to hold protests in support of the accused constables.

The press c communiqué from the DGP headquarters read that constable Neeraj Mathur posted in Bareilly had been suspended for his indiscipline of posting objectionable posts and videos on Facebook.

The DGP headquarters also contradicted the false news about the house arrest of Etah police constable Sarvesh Chowdhary for expressing resentment and posting an objectionable video on Facebook. Chowdhary was earlier suspended for his derogatory posts on Thursday after which he submitted his resignation to SSP Etah Ashish Tiwari on Friday. The headquarters clarified that Chowdhary is with his family members after submitting his resignation and he is not held.

Earlier on Friday, photographs of constables wearing black ribbons on their arms in support of Chaudhary and Rana were circulated on social media and constables at Gudamba, Naka and Aliganj police stations reported for duty wearing black ribbons. A senior police official, who did not wish to be named, said most of protestors were of the batch of the murder accused constable Prashant Chowdhary (2015-16).
