SDMA plans to undertake safety audit of high-rises
LUCKNOW : The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) will soon undertake a safety audit of all multi-storeyed buildings in the state capital to ensure whether they have the necessary infrastructure and response system in place to meet any contingency.
Briefing media persons here, SDMA vice chairman Lieutenant General (retired) RP Sahi said the authority will organise a daylong programme on International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR 2018) on October 13 here to create awareness, encourage citizens and the authorities about disaster risk reduction and building a disaster-resilient system.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the event to be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Experts, senior bureaucrats, police and administration officials will be present on the occasion.

response time and use of technology in tackling emergency situations and reducing disaster risks.
“Apart from working on the priorities, laid out by the PM our focus is on drafting a contingency and crowd-management plan for Kumbh Mela 2019,” said Sahi.
He said the Kumbh Mela area had increased manifold and to prepare for the mega event, revenue officials and disaster management teams from all districts in UP were invited to attend the programme.
The authority will also hold a dog show and a photo exhibition on the occasion in which it will showcase various state-ofthe-art appliances.
