Abhishek excels in under-16 cricket

LUCKNOW: Abhishek Defouti’s allround performance helped REPL Cricket Club win the Ranjana Singh Under-16 Cricket Tournament, defeating ASCA by 39 runs here on Monday.

Abhishek made 58 as the side scored 191 in 39.3 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Later he took one wicket to see the rivals scoring 152/9 in 40 overs.

BSNV PG College scored a convincing 77-run win against Islamia Degree College in a knockout match of the 47th Sundari Devi Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament here on Monday.

The match saw Harshit Singh hitting a brilliant century as BSNVPGC piled up 202/6 in 20 overs. Ankush Shukla made 34.

In reply, IDC got out for 125 in 19.4 overs. Saurabh, Harshit, Arpit Yadav and Abhishek Yadav shared eight wickets between r=them.

Uttar Pradesh Powerlifting Association on Monday announced its team for the Junior National Powerlifting Championship, scheduled to be held from October 21 to 25 at Patiala. The team members included, Virendra Singh Markam, Deepak Verma, Shailendra Baghel, Monu Gupta, Dharmendra Yadav, Vikas Chauhan, Rahul Kumar, Pradeep Sharma, Sakshi, Jyoti Singh, Smriti Kashyap, Sonam Rajpoot.

SELECTION TRIALS

Trials to pick up junior boys football team at the district level will be held on October 15 at the Chowk Stadium here at 3.00 p.m. This will be followed by the regional trials of the selected players on October 16. The finally selected team would participate in the State Junior Championship, scheduled to be held from October 21 to 28 at Varanasi.
