LMRC committed to maintaining Ganj façade, says Kumar Keshav
Metro stn’s ancillary building to be in sync with Ganj façade
LUCKNOW: The ancillary building of the Lucknow Metro station near Sahu Theatre in Hazratganj will be in sync with the façade of Hazratganj, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) MD Kumar Keshav has assured a delegation of Citizens For Lucknow, a group working for maintaining the heritage of Lucknow.
Hazratganj, being a heritage area, needs special care when it comes to the façade and this is understood by LMRC, members of the delegation felt. Keshav said, “The group met me and pleaded for changes in exterior design of the ancillary building of the Metro station in front of Sahu Theatre. I agreed to give it a façade in sync with Hazratganj. The colour will also be in harmony with the colour scheme of Ganj.” The delegation also demanded the closure of exit and entry points in front of Mayfair building, to which the MD disagreed. Closing the entry and exit points was not an option, he said, adding that the best LMRC could do was to change steel to glass and use a colour that was in harmony with the colours in Hazratganj (cream/ pale yellow) so it’s transparency would blend more with the old buildings, said a member of the delegation. The underground stations will use motifs, murals highlighting the culture of Lucknow. The MD said that the LMRC would repair all the roads, footpaths damaged in Hazratganj during construction, besides constructing the DRM office porch.
