Soon, political training institute in Ghaziabad
LUCKNOW : The UP cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to set up a political training institute in Ghaziabad, parliamentary affairs and urban development minister Suresh Khanna said.
The institute will impart training in legislative practices, rules and conduct to political workers, new entrants to politics and public representatives, the minister said after the cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Yogi Adityanath here.
The institute was expected to become functional in two years, Khanna said. He also said ₹68.67 crore would be spent on setting up the institute in the first phase. A provision of Rs 50 crore had been already made in the state budget to set up the institute, he said. Ghaziabad was chosen as the location of the institute due its proximity to the national capital, he added.
“Ambassadors, heads of state and other visiting dignitaries will be able to guide the trainees at the proposed institute,” he said.
He said this was the first such institute being set up by the state government.
The state government is in touch with universities to seek affiliation for the institute.
A committee has been set up to give a final shape to the curriculum, he added.
About 51,213 square metre land was identified and made available for the institute on Rajnagar extension by the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, he added.
A senior officer said being in close proximity to Delhi, the institute would be able to get visiting professors.
The courses to be run at the institute will be useful to those who wish to join politics and acquire diploma/degree on the subject, the officer said.
