KEY ACCUSED IN THAKURGANJ DOUBLE MURDER CASE SHOOTS SELF

LUCKNOW : Shivam Singh, key accused in the murder of two brothers in Thakurganj area last week, shot himself dead with a countrymad­e firearm when a police team raided his hideout in Gomti Nagar late on Wednesday night. ADG, Lucknow zone, Rajeev Krishna said police got the informatio­n that two accused in the murder case, Shivam Singh and Chinna, were hiding in a double-storey house in Vikram Khand-5 area of Gomti Nagar. According to police, Shivam was wanted in six cases.

LUCKNOW: Shivam Singh, key accused in the murder of two brothers in Thakurganj area last week, shot himself dead with a country-made firearm when a police team raided his hideout in Gomti Nagar late on Wednesday night.

ADG, Lucknow zone, Rajeev Krishna said police got the informatio­n that two accused in the murder case, Shivam Singh and Chinna, were hiding in a doublestor­ey house in Vikram Khand-5 area of Gomti Nagar.

A forensic team was called in which is looking into the sequence of events leading to Shivam’s death.

According to police, Shivam was wanted in six cases. The ADG said when the crime branch sleuths reached the house, they heard the sound of a bullet.

“Chinna opened the door and was arrested by the police team. Shivam was found dead inside the house. Fearing arrest, Shivam had shot himself with a countrymad­e firearm,” he added.

Senior police officials, including IG, Lucknow, Sujit Pandey and SSP Kalanidhi Naithani also visited the spot.

Shivam’s body was sent for post-mortem examinatio­n.

The police had earlier arrested one of the accused Sahil and were looking for Shivam and Chinna.

Shivam, Chinna and Sahil had allegedly murdered two brothers Imran Ali (23) and Arman Ali (18) in Thakurganj area on October 3.

The two brothers were returning home in a cab, which they used to drive, when they were intercepte­d and attacked by six people.

Nishant Sharma, a friend of Imran and Arman who was also in the cab at the time of the incident, managed to flee from the spot and informed the family.

Nishant claimed that the assailants kept beating the two brothers with sticks and rods in front of passersby for about 15 minutes before shooting them dead.
