4 trains cancelled, several diverted

LUCKNOW The movement of several trains was affected due to the derailment of the 14003 Malda Town-New Delhi Express in Harchandpu­r area of Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. At least four trains were cancelled, some will be terminated ahead of their destinatio­n and many others were diverted.

Northern Railway officials said it will take close to 16 hours to clear the tracks where the accident took place. Cranes will be pressed into service to remove the derailed engine and coaches, they said.

The following trains scheduled to commence their journey on October 10 will remain cancelled: the 14216 Lucknow-Allahabad Ganga Gomti Express, the 14210/14209 Lucknow-PrayagLuck­now Intercity Express and the 14124 Kanpur-Pratapgarh Express. The 14123 Pratapgarh Kanpur Express, which is scheduled to begin its run on October 11, will remain cancelled too.

The 14219/14220 VaranasiLu­cknow-Inter City Express, commencing its journey on October 10, will be short terminated at Rae Bareli and it will also short originate from there.

The 54377 Prayag-Bareilly passenger train, commencing its journey on October 10, will also be short terminated at Rae Bareli. The 54378 Bareilly-Prayag passenger train will short originate from Rae Bareli.

The 14123 Pratapgarh-Kanpur Central Express, commencing its journey, on October 10 will be diverted to run via Rae BareliDalm­au-Unnao-Kanpur.
