UP, U’khand to sign bus pact today
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and his Uttarakhand counterpart Trivendra Singh Rawat will witness the signing of an inter-state bus operation agreement between the two states here on Monday.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between UP and Uttarakhand was signed in the presence of the chief ministers of the two states in December 2017 with regard to inter-state bus operations. Now, they will sign the final agreement. Adityanath will also flag off 51 Kumbh shuttle buses on the occasion.
“The interim agreement already existed since December last but the two states will sign a final pact on Monday in the august presence of the chief ministers,” UP minister of state for transport (independent charge) Swatantra Dev Singh said.
He said inter-state bus operations in the two states would formally begin after the final agreement. Singh has held a meeting with the transport department and the UP state road transport corporation (UPSRTC) officials to take stock of the preparations for the Monday function.
As per the final agreement to be signed, UPSRTC buses will make 2,496 trips in the territory of Uttarakhand every day while the Uttarkhand transport corporation’s buses will make 1730 trips in UP daily.
