The minimum temperature in many cities was around 10 degrees Celsius while the maximum came down to below 30 degrees, forcing people to take out light woolens.

The minimum temperature in Lucknow dipped to 10.2 degrees Celsius (four degrees below normal) on Thursday while it went up to 11.2 degrees Celsius (three degrees below normal) on Friday.

“The drop in day and night temperatures was due to snowfall

in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Northwesterly winds also contributed to it. There will be no significant change in night temperature for a while,” said JP Gupta, director, Meteorological Centre.

Muzaffarnagar recorded the lowest night temperature at 9 degrees Celsius.
