▪ The Yogi Adityanath cab­i­net is ex­pected to give its nod to the pro­posal, al­ready sent by the trans­port depart­ment.

▪ Trans­port com­mis­sioner P Gu­ruprasad con­firmed, “Yes, a pro­posal seek­ing fram­ing of rules to reg­u­late the func­tion­ing of pri­vate driv­ing schools is await­ing the Cab­i­net’s ap­proval.”

▪ Peo­ple fa­mil­iar with the mat­ter said there were 700 pri­vate driv­ing train­ing in­sti­tutes in UP with­out there be­ing proper rules and reg­u­la­tions for them. “All that the trans­port depart­ment has is an ex­ec­u­tive or­der based on the Cen­tral Mo­tor Ve­hi­cles Rules, 1989, but it has no sep­a­rate rules of its own to have a qual­ity check on driv­ing schools,” they said.
