Work on Ghaziabad cricket stadium to begin next month
LUCKNOW: With the Uttar Pradesh government giving its nod to the acquisition of land in Ghaziabad, work on the construction of the country’s biggest international cricket stadium is all set to commence in December, according to a state government official.
“The ball has been set rolling. Preparations are on for holding the second ground-breaking ceremony for 150 projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore including the world class cricket stadium at Ghaziabad,” said the official. Chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey, who is also the infrastructure and industrial development commissioner, has directed officials to hold one-on-one meetings with the investors’ to facilitate the rollout of projects. the required infrastructure facilities to the investors.
CM Yogi Adityanath has already announced that the cricket stadium at Ghaziabad will have a seating capacity of 75,000, people making it the biggest in the country. While Kolkata’s Eden Gardens can accommodate over 66,000 spectators, the Atal Behari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow can seat 50,000. Other big ticket projects that have been lined up for the occasion include setting up of a battery operated vehicle manufacturing plant by a Singaporebased company and commencement 500 battery operated buses in Ghaziabad apart from several other power, electronic and textile manufacturing units.
