Work on Ghazi­abad cricket sta­dium to be­gin next month

LUC­KNOW: With the Ut­tar Pradesh gov­ern­ment giv­ing its nod to the ac­qui­si­tion of land in Ghazi­abad, work on the con­struc­tion of the coun­try’s big­gest in­ter­na­tional cricket sta­dium is all set to com­mence in De­cem­ber, ac­cord­ing to a state gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial.

“The ball has been set rolling. Prepa­ra­tions are on for hold­ing the sec­ond ground-break­ing cer­e­mony for 150 projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore in­clud­ing the world class cricket sta­dium at Ghazi­abad,” said the of­fi­cial. Chief sec­re­tary Anup Chan­dra Pandey, who is also the in­fra­struc­ture and in­dus­trial devel­op­ment com­mis­sioner, has di­rected of­fi­cials to hold one-on-one meet­ings with the in­vestors’ to fa­cil­i­tate the roll­out of projects. the re­quired in­fra­struc­ture fa­cil­i­ties to the in­vestors.

CM Yogi Adityanath has al­ready an­nounced that the cricket sta­dium at Ghazi­abad will have a seat­ing ca­pac­ity of 75,000, peo­ple mak­ing it the big­gest in the coun­try. While Kolkata’s Eden Gar­dens can ac­com­mo­date over 66,000 spec­ta­tors, the Atal Be­hari Va­j­payee In­ter­na­tional Cricket Sta­dium in Luc­know can seat 50,000. Other big ticket projects that have been lined up for the oc­ca­sion in­clude set­ting up of a bat­tery op­er­ated ve­hi­cle man­u­fac­tur­ing plant by a Sin­ga­pore­based com­pany and com­mence­ment 500 bat­tery op­er­ated buses in Ghazi­abad apart from sev­eral other power, elec­tronic and tex­tile man­u­fac­tur­ing units.
