LUCKNOW: National award winner multilingual actor who has done more than 200 movies, Ashish Vidyarthi told students of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) on Saturday , “Always be respectful to your roots to achieve success in life.”

The actor, who has proved his mettle not only in Bollywood but also the Tamil, Kannada, Malyalam, Bengali and Telugu film industries, was speaking at the programme ‘Leaders Express’, a part of the ongoing three- day IIM-L gala Manfest– Varchasva-2018.

In his motivational address to the students, Vidyarthi said the place one hailed from did not matter.

What mattered was the position one held at that moment of time.

“I have seen people hiding their identity. In Delhi, those who lives across the Yamuna tell their address as Delhi, which is wrong. Instead they should be proud even if they stay across the Yamuna, which is often considered as Delhi’s outer,” he said .

Recollecting an incident during a shoot in Delhi when the film director was trying to explain a role to the lead actor, Vidyarthi said, “The actor stubbornly refused to listen to the director, saying, ‘I don’t need any guidance as I am a product of the National School of Drama (NSD).’ It was then I decided that I won’t brag about my background in life. What matters is the present.” .

He said one should not run after somebody or copy someone to become popular.

Those who were popular had gained their popularity due to some qualities. So one should try to unleash the qualities hidden within oneself.

His enthralling speech gave a motivational start to the second day of the ongoing annual fest that will conclude on Sunday.

“It was truly amazing to hear such a great, talented personality who has done more than 200 films and is well versed with more than 12 languages. It’s not at all an easy task. Hearing him filled us with confidence and motivation. We have learnt a lot from his life,” said Saurabh Dixit, an IIM student.

Other students too found Vidyarthi’s session the most interesting, calling him a multifaceted personality. “Other than being an actor, I just learnt that he is also a successful entrepreneur whose venture, Avid Miner Conversations, has created out of the box interactive modules,” another student added.

The day also witnessed a business conclave in which some leading entrepreneurs discussed their success mantra with the budding managers. Hemant Daga, deputy CEO, Global Wealth and Asset Management and head, Edelweiss’s Asset Management Business was the first to give the motivational speech .

He said, “Good business leaders creates a vision and relentlessly drive it to competition”.

Prem Rawat, an internationally renowned speaker and Anu Prasad, an Indian social sector leader also delivered motivational speeches to the students and shared their experiences.

In addition, there was a series of cultural, sports and business programmes.
