Now, roster system for traffic police
LUCKNOW: In order to deal with shortage of traffic police personnel in the state capital and to streamline traffic, senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani has directed to implement a roster system in deployment of traffic cops.
“The roster system will ensure that all traffic police personnel are shuffled at regular intervals,” said the SSP.
The SSP issued the direction after he inspected the Lucknow traffic police lines in Cantt area on Saturday. The SSP visited the traffic police lines a day after chief minister Yogi Adityanth inspected the police lines.
As per the roster plan, suggested by the SSP, all traffic sub
inspectors will be shifted from their duty spot after every 15 days. The same will be done for traffic constables on weekly basis.
During his inspection, the officer also visited the office area, checked the duty register and spoke to officials concerned on duty. On observing a large number of personnel working in the offices, SSP asked the SP traffic to
ensure that more personnel are out in the field managing traffic.
Traffic officials were also asked to reduce their reaction time and work in tandem with the civil police. He further directed to share equipment with police. Traffic police officials use tools like breath analyser, decibel meter and other equipment which civil police don’t have.
Taking a strict note to indiscipline among the force, the SSP directed the senior traffic officials to mandate attendance for all personnel and take strict action against repeat offenders.
“We have intimated all traffic officials about the directions issued by the SSP. We are planning to implement the direction within a week,” said additional superintendent of police (traffic) Ravi Shankar Nim. The SSP also suggested traffic officials to keep an eye on information received from helpline numbers.
