Woman accuses yoga guru father of rape

PRAYAGRAJ : A woman has accused her father, a prominent yoga guru of Prayagraj, of confining her at his ashram in Jhunsi area for 15 days and raping her, police said. The complainant reached the Colonelganj police station with two lawyers on Tuesday and lodged an FIR, they added. According to police, the complainant also named five people, including three women, in the FIR.

The complainant reached the Colonelganj police station with two lawyers on Tuesday night and lodged an FIR against her father, they added.

According to police, the complainant also named five people, including three women, in the FIR.Senior police officials reached the Colonelganj police station to question the woman after she made the allegations against her father.Circle officer, Colonelganj, Alok Mishra said the police had lodged an FIR against the Yoga guru, two of his close aides and three women followers at the ashram.

“While the Yoga guru has been charged with rape and other offences, others have been accused of helping him in confining and assaulting his daughter. The accused will be questioned soon,” he added.

Police said the woman claimed she was taken to Lucknow, Delhi and Ballia during the 15-day confinement and was sexually assaulted.

She informed the police that she escaped from the ashram in a vehicle but was followed by her father’s aides. She left the vehicle and reached the police station.

Meanwhile, the Yoga guru’s wife claimed that allegations aga inst her husband were baseless. “Some people are using my daug hter to level false allegations agai nst my husband, she added.
