Taunshree wins bronze in world soft tennis

LUCKNOW: Lucknow’s Taunshree Pandey won a bronze medal at the 3rd World Junior Soft Tennis Championsh­ip in South Korea on Wednesday. She lost to Japan’s Hamashima Reina 0-4 in girls under-15 singles semi-final. Earlier, in the quarterfin­al she defeated Batta Chinmurun of Mangolia 4-0.

FINE START

Tvesa Malik got off to a fine start with an even par 70 in the first round of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour here on Wednesday. Tvesa shot two birdies against two bogeys. She is now one shot ahead of second placed Smriti Mehra, who had a fine front nine with one-under 33.

POLICE ATHLETICS

Monika Singh won a golden dou- ble at the UP Police Athletics meet here on Wednesday.

First she won 100 metre hurdles and then went on winning 400m race. Other gold medal winners of the day were Vishvendra Kumar, Saurabh Yadav, Preeti Singh, Amit Dhaka, Dimple Singh and Chandrahas Kush- waha.

FINE BOWLING

Chandresh Kumar took 4/17, whereas Vikas Singh and Navneet Yadav had three and two wickets, respective­ly as Akhil Infra Club scored an easy eightwicke­t win against Rudransh Cricket Club in CAL’s A division league here on Wednesday. RCC got out for 101 in 32 overs, and then AICC romped home in 16.3 overs with Vikas Deep hitting an unbeaten 55.

Meanwhile, in a C division encounter, Kalpana Sports Foundation defeated Paramount Cricket Club by 114 runs. Ajay Rawat and Aman Singh bagged four and three wickets, respective­ly as PCC collapsed for 80 in 22.2 overs while chasing 195 to win.

MISHRA CRICKET

Maharishi Vidyavasin­i Inter College scored an eight wickets win against hosts Col SN Mishra Memorial School in a knockout match of the 15th Col SN Mishra Memorial Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament. In the second match of the day, St Joseph School beat The City School by 167 runs.
