Experts discuss salient features of Indian Constituti­on

LUCKNOW : A conference on ‘Constituti­on-A Comparativ­e Viewpoint’ was organised in judge’s auditorium of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court here on Monday in which experts explained in detail about the salient features of the Constituti­on.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof M P Singh, National Law School, Delhi, explained in detail the different features of the Constituti­on of India.

In order to make his point, Prof Singh also cited a statement of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constituti­on, and stressed that the Constituti­on would work well only if people implementi­ng it were good.

Prof Singh said that no organ of the state should be so strong that it should deprive people of their rights.

Citing the Magna Carta, he said that it was only after this charter that people started raising voice for liberty and freedom in the world.

The Manga Carta was a document signed by King John after negotiatio­ns with his barons and their French and Scots allies at Runnymede, Surrey, England in 1215. Prof Singh also exalted the Constituti­on, saying that one of its key features was that it connected with every person.

Senior judge of the Lucknow high court, Justice Vikram Nath also hailed the Constituti­on.

Earlier, Justice D K Upadhyay of Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court welcomed the chief guest.

Additional advocate general K P Tripathi, government advocate Vimal Srivastava , chief standing counsel S P Singh and a large number of judges and lawyers were present on the occasion.
