NCC inculcates discipline, dedication towards work: Guv
LUCKNOW: A grand march past was conducted by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Gomti River Front to mark the 70th NCC Day here on Tuesday. UP governor Ram Naik was the chief guest on the occasion.
The grand event was aimed at showcasing the NCC activities to the commoners and to highlight their contributions in nation building.
After the national anthem, the NCC cadets carried out the march past. It was followed by cultural programmes where female cadets performed Kathak, Kajri and other cultural dances.
Besides, the event also witnessed social awareness shows where the cadets created awareness among the masses through a street play on ‘Save Trees, Save Environment’.
On the occasion, the governor highlighted the role of NCC in nation building. He said NCC inculcates discipline and dedication towards work and these two traits take students a long way.
Naik was himself a part of NCC platoon in 1950s in Pune when it was in a formative stage. He said that NCC was now modernized and better equipped and all the cadets should feel proud of it.
The governor also appreciated the spectacular performances by the cadets and appreciated the efforts of the NCC-UP Directorate in organizing this show on the 70th NCC Day.
A blood donation camp was also organized on the day. Major General AK Sapra, ADG NCC (UP) Directorate; Brigadier Vikram Raina, Commander, NCC Group HQ Lucknow; Col Jeevan Jhande, Commanding Officer, 67th Battalion and other officers of NCC UP Directorate were also present on the occasion.
