Students can now conduct research on nano tech

-

LUCKNOW: The engineering students at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, will now be able to work on innovation and research projects in the field of nano technology in collaboration with the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) at Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore. The AKTU has newly launched nanotechnology postgraduate and research program at its in campus institute Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS).

To initiate the systematic research on nano science and technology and its allied domains, the CAS signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the CeNSE, IISc, Bangalore on Monday.

Under this CAS-CeNSE alliance, students and faculty exchange will become a regular feature to stimulate mutually beneficial research including collaborations and joint sponsorships of seminars, workshops and other academic meetings.

“CAS students will benefit from CeNSE’s peerless state of the art nanofabrication facility and a par excellence nano characterisation facility to do measurements on materials and devices,” said Prof Manish Gaur, director, Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) at AKTU.

He added, “It also enfolds the joint research proposals on frontier ideas for funding and a visiting work experience for a maximum of one year for the selected post graduate and research students between CAS and CeNSE.”

Talking about the collaboration, Prof Gaur said, “CeNSE at IISc is one of the major nano science technology centres in India and in the world. Our research collaboration and faculty student exchange is very timely as CAS AKTU is in the process of building a centre of excellence in nano technology. And the two institutes can collaborate very effectively in their common goal of building nano realm related technology.”

Dr Piyush Jaiswal, coordinator of the nanotechnology programme at CAS, AKTU and an IISc alumni said, “The nano technology program at CAS is just a few months old and under process of establishing high grade and cutting edge labs and facilities. Such cooperation with top institutes will certainly help in kick start research work here and enhance the visibility.”
