Tempo rams into road railing, three school kids hurt

LUCKNOW: Three school children and their teacher were injured when the tempo ferrying them met an accident after ramming into the railing on the roadside on Lucknow-Sitapur highway in Itaunja area here on Thursday morning.

According to local police, the accident took place when the tempo driver lost control during his effort to prevent the tempo from colliding from the side of the road and it tilted on one side.

The police said nine students and a woman teacher were travelling in the tempo when the accident took place.

The teacher Neelima and students Arjun, Priya and Faiyaz were injured in the accident while others remained unhurt. A police team reached the spot and arranged to transfer the injured to hospital.

All the four injured had minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital after first aid. No police complaint was lodged regarding the incident by the time this report was filed.

CLERK ARRESTED FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE

A junior clerk of electricit­y safety directorat­e was caught red handed by the Anti Corruption Organisati­on (ACO) team from outside his office in Vibhuti Khand area here on Thursday while accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 for giving clearance for electricit­y license to a private firm.

A team led by inspector Jata Shanker Singh laid the trap for the clerk’s arrest after getting complaint from Vikas Batham, the owner of Messers Kirti Enterprise­s Limited .

He said Batham alleged that the clerk was not clearing the file related to electricit­y license of his firm and demanding bribe for doing the work.

He said the clerk was arrested as soon as he accepted the bribe from the complainan­t outside his office in Vibhuti Khand at around 3.25 pm.

He said an FIR under Anti Corruption Act had been lodged against the clerk with Chinhat police and he would be sent to jail after being presented in the competent court.
