Yogi Adityanath announces welfare schemes to boost khadi industries, launches a new khadi logo and a helpline
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said defunct blanket manufacturing units in UP would be revived and this would also yield benefits for shepherds and those engaged in wool business.
“Of the eight textile mills lying defunct in UP, six are blanket manufacturing units. The state government is going to revive these units, which will not only help shepherds financially, but also generate employment,” said Yogi Adityanath while speaking at UP Khadi Mahotsav 2018.
The event was organised at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan (IGP) by Khadi and Village Industries Board and Indian Industries Association (IIA) to mark the year of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
He blamed the previous governments for the defunct blanket manufacturing units and launched a new khadi logo and a helpline—1800-2583113. Yogi Adityanath also announced several welfare schemes to boost khadi industries.
The chief minister said the state government was leaving no stone unturned in the execution of Swachha Bharat Abhiyan and UP’s move to impose ban on polythene was a glaring example.
The UP government had also constituted Mati Kala Board to popularise use of earthen lamps and as a result, the use of earthen lamps increased this Diwali, he added.
He said the UP Government was also going to set up universities and institutes to impart training in the field of blacksmithing, wood work and other crafts. The institutes would impart yearlong, six-month and three-month courses, said the CM.
Satyadev Pachauri, minister for khadi, village industries, sericulture, textiles, and export promotion, said the state government had already been working for the welfare of khadi.
