LUCKNOW:In a major drive against encroachments, around 70 ramps were removed by antiencroachment squad of Lucknow Municipal Corporation in Saadatganj, Bawli Chowki, Patharkata road in zone VI on Friday. These ramps were blocking the nullahs and drains causing overflow of filthy water in the locality, said zonal officer Ambi Bisht.

She said, “The squad faced resistance at several places but the heavy police force accompanying the LMC anti-encroachment squad ensured that the drive was carried out successfully. The police chased away trouble-makers to keep the situation under control.”

Meanwhile, the LMC squad challaned more than 20 vehicles parked wrongly in front of LMC office. Besides, Rs 50,000 was recovered as fine from 12 encroachers who had extended their platform and shades on road in Lalbagh, said zonal officer Narendra Dev Varma.

He said LMC will not allow any sort of encroachment on roads as it not only halts the pace of traffic flow but also causes accidents. The drive against encroachments would continue in the days to come.
