UPPCL to replace old power lines with aerial bunch conductors

Hindustan Times (Lucknow) - - Lucknow -

LUCKNOW:The worn-out 11 kv and low tension electricity lines passing over the houses owned by the people belonging to the below poverty line (BPL) families will be replaced with aerial bunch conductors (ABCs) in villages by the UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL).

Giving this information here on Friday, principal secretary, energy and UPPCL, chairman, Alok Kumar said the corporation was receiving a lot of complaints that the power lines passing over the rural households were causing a lot of inconvenience to the inhabitants as well as causing accidents. Hence, the UPPCL has already begun replacing all the overhead power lines with the ABCs in a bid to check villagers from using ‘katiyas’. “We have, therefore, decided to replace all such lines and wires with the ABCs using the money from the district electricity development fund available in all the districts,” he said, adding “However, this facility will not be available for plots and uninhabited places.” Kumar said lack of money was a major constraint for carrying out deferent works in villages.
