LUCKNOW: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is including 203 video clips in its probe to piece together the sequence of events in connection with the Bulandshahr violence in which a police inspector and a local youth were killed on Monday, a senior police officer privy to the investigation said on Friday.

He said 23 videos were recorded by police personnel deployed at Mahaw village in the Syana police station area when the violence broke out on Monday. Another 180 video clips were made by onlookers and the rioters themselves, he said.

An SIT member said all police personnel present at the spot at the time of violence were asked

to share videos. Moreover, the SIT was also approaching locals to share information, as well as videos of the violence, if they had come across any, he said.

He said although some of the videos were not of a very good quality, they will be helpful in connecting the sequence of events and establishing how the violence erupted, who instigated the mob and who killed inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and local youth Sumit Kumar.

Earlier, additional director general (ADG) of police, law and order, Anand Kumar had stated on Tuesday that all videos related to the Bulandshahr violence surfacing on the social media will be included in the investigation.

The violence erupted on Monday after over 2,000 people, including villagers and rightwing activists, started protesting against alleged cow slaughter in the area after recovery of several cow carcasses at Mahaw village.
