Upper caste quota a ‘game changer’: UP BJP

The BJP appeared elated with the Modi government’s announcement of a 10 percent quota for upper castes.

UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey, UP minister Shrikant Sharma, party spokesman Manish Shukla were among several leaders who described the move as a ‘game changer.’

“For the past 70 to 72 years the upper castes had been denied their due as they had no reservation. Now Modiji has ensured that without tinkering with the reservation of OBCs and SC/STs, the upper castes too get their due. The poor among upper castes are now happy as well,” Pandey said.

“Those who were feeling left out in the development race due to economic reasons now will get adequate opportunities. The country had been used to divide and rule tactics. The Modi government has now introduced the concept of development and welfare

“When the SC/ST Act was introduced, some thought it to be anti-upper caste. Now, with this historic 10 per cent reservation for upper castes, it’s clear that the government wants all to join Modi’s Mission Development,” Shukla said.
