After month-long stay in Delhi, Maya to return to Lucknow tomorrow
LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati is likely to visit Lucknow on Thursday (January 10) after a month-long stay in Delhi.
A party leader, who did not wish to be named, said Mayawati would review preparations for Lok Sabha elections and was likely to give finishing touches to the proposed pre-poll alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP).
She is likely to make a formal announcement of the alliance with SP president Akhilesh Yadav.
Ahead of her visit, hectic activities were witnessed at her bungalow on 9, Mall Avenue, which is being decked up for the celebration of Mayawati’s 63rd birthday on January 15.
The BSP leader cited above said the party’s election machinery would get rolling for the crucial Lok Sabha elections after the arrival of ‘behanji’.
“She will hold a meeting with party leaders, MLAs, MLCs, MPs and office-bearers to discuss the election strategy,” he said.

He claimed that Mayawati was working towards the formation of a non-BJP, non-Congress third front.
“The party’s state unit which is gearing up for the meeting will be briefed about the seat-sharing formula with the SP as well as the campaign strategy for Lok Sabha election,” he said.
