Mehtab fashions DCC’s big win in Saxena cricket tourney

LUCKNOW: An all-round performanc­e by Mehtab helped Diamond Cricket Club (DCC) score a convincing 85-run win against Youth Cricket Club (YCC) and collected full points in the 2nd Phoolmati Om Prakash Saxena Memorial Tournament here on Tuesday.

Mehtab first scored run-a-ball 101, which contained 11 fours and four sixes as DCC piled up 166 in 35 overs, and then took 4/13 to get YCC out for 81 in 21.5 overs.

In other matches of the day, Aryavart Cricket Academy defeated KD Singh Babu Stadium Club by five wickets, and Life Care Club beat Lucknow Cricketers by eight wickets.

FINE BOWLING

Atif took 4/16, Karan Singh bagged 3/19 and Abhishek Singh bagged 2/30 as UP Timber Club defeated NER by eight wickets in a league match of the 15th Shamsi Trophy Cricket Tournament, at the LDA Stadium here on Tuesday.

In reply to NER’s total of 81/9 in 27.4 overs, UPTC romped home in 14.1 overs, losing just two wickets. Vipraj Nigam remained unbeaten on 53 which came off 50 balls with the help of nine fours.

EMPHATIC WIN

BSNV notched up a fascinatin­g 193-run win against Gulmohar Cricket Academy in an A division league tie, at the Chowk Stadium here on Tuesday. Mangalam Tewari struck 64 as BSNV piled up 250 in 39.3 overs and then skittled out GCA for paltry 57 in 20 overs.

Meanwhile, in the D division Excers Club beat Ekana Rangers by 79 runs, and Annapurna Cricket Club beat St Ann’s Cricket Club by one wicket.

Abhay Singh took 4/32, whereas Ajit SAingh bagged 3/32 as St Ann’s Cricket Club could make 155 in 37.2 overs.

With a sparkling half-century by opener Chandan Mullick, Annapurna Cricket Club reached home in 35.2 overs with one wicket in hand.
