AAP MLAs to join ‘Bhajpa Bhagao Bhagwan Bachao’ yatra

LUCKNOW: Over a dozen Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs will take part the in party’s three-day ‘Bhajpa (BJP) Bhagao Bhagwan Bachao’ yatra to be taken out from Ajodhya to Varanasi from January 12.

The party has also succeeded to mobilise support of some Hindu saints in opposing the alleged demolition of historic temples in Varanasi in the name of Kashinath Corridor.

AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh is leading the party’s campaign against the Narendra Modi led central government and Yogi Adityanath led state government.

Of AAP’s 67 MLAs in Delhi, 11 including deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, belongs to Uttar Pradesh.

“BJP postures itself as Hindu party but reality is just the opposite. In the name of developmen­t, several temples are being demolished,” said an AAP leader, confirming that more than a dozen AAP MLAs from Delhi will also be attending the procession.”

The AAP, which is in power in New Delhi, will contest around 100 seats in the general elections, including a few seats in Uttar Pradesh.

So far, Apna Dal (Krishna Patel faction) has joined hands with the AAP in this campaign against the saffron party.

A state leader of AAP said they were also in talks with some other outfits and social groups.

The yatra will start from Ayodhya on January 12, the birth anniversar­y of Swami Vivekanand, and end in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituen­cy Varanasi on January 14.

The ‘Kisan Berozgar Sansad’ has been scheduled in Ayodhya on January 23, the birth anniversar­y of Subhas Chandra Bose.

THE AAP WILL CONTEST AROUND 100 SEATS IN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS, INCLUDING A FEW SEATS IN UTTAR PRADESH.
