‘Let it be clear who is working for development’
LUCKNOW:UP health minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Wednesday said it should be clear once and for all as to which party is focussing on development and who is indulging in caste politics.
Singh made the remarks while replying to a query regarding opposition parties uniting against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest Lok Sabha elections.
“Let parties fight unitedly (against the BJP). Let it be clear in the country, particularly in UP, who works for development and who does politics of caste,” he told reporters when asked about the announcement by Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSPL) president Shivpal Yadav that he would contest Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, Singh flagged off a medical van and a 15-seater transport vehicle for Kumbh-2019. He also spoke about the health facilities that will be provided in Kumbh Mela area in Prayagraj. During the 40-day event, 18 dedicated ophthalmology OPD units named ‘Netra Kumbh’, targeting
over 5 lakh pilgrims for eye check-up, specs distribution and surgeries, will be set up.
“It is an attempt to ensure correct vision for patients. During Kumbh, we will distribute specs to over one lakh people for corrected vision,” said Prof Sandip
Tiwari, coordinator of ‘Netra Kumbh’ and head of trauma surgery department at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU). The special camp will be set up in about 8000 sq ft area where doctors will be available at 18 different units.
