‘Ke­jri­wal not to con­test LS polls from Varanasi’

VARANASI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesman and Ra­jya Sabha mem­ber San­jay Singh on Sun­day said party pres­i­dent and Delhi chief min­is­ter Arvind Ke­jri­wal would not con­test Lok Sabha elec­tion from Varanasi and added that AAP would field a strong can­di­date against Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi in Varanasi.

VARANASI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesman and Ra­jya Sabha mem­ber San­jay Singh on Sun­day said party pres­i­dent and Delhi chief min­is­ter Arvind Ke­jri­wal would not con­test Lok Sabha elec­tion from Varanasi and added that AAP would field a strong can­di­date against Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi in Varanasi.

“AAP chief Arvind Ke­jri­wal will not con­test Lok Sabha elec­tion from Varanasi as he wants to fo­cus more on Delhi. AAP will field strong can­di­dates on cer­tain seats, in­clud­ing Varanasi,” Singh told me­dia per­sons dur­ing the party’s ‘BJP bha­gao, bhag­wan bachao’ ya­tra which was taken out from Ay­o­d­hya to Varanasi on Jan­uary 12-13.

“AAP will field can­di­dates on all par­lia­men­tary seats of Pun­jab, Haryana, Goa and Chandigarh. Prepa­ra­tions for elec­tions are in full swing,” he added.

Ke­jri­wal had se­cured sec­ond po­si­tion against Modi from Varanasi seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elec­tion.
