Locals block road after cloth vendor’s murder

LUCKNOW: Locals and family members of a 35-year-old cloth vendor, who was allegedly murdered after being robbed in PGI police area, staged a protest by placing the body in the middle of the Rae Bareli road here on Sunday.

The vendor’s body was found lying on the roadside on Saturday midnight. Police initially claimed that the deceased Rakesh Kumar was apparently hit by a vehicle but registered an FIR of murder with intention of loot after his kin and locals’ staged a protest. SHO of PGI police station, Ravindra Nath Rai said an FIR under IPC section 302 for murder and 394 for loot had been registered against the unknown miscreants.
