ANTI-ENCROACHMENT DRIVE, A TOOTHLESS TIGER

The police, along with district administration, have launched a fresh drive to decongest the entire stretch. The drive largely includes removal of encroachments, banning the movement e-rickshaws, freeing the illegal parking space on the road.

The administration has also tweaked traffic movement on certain sections and created ‘free left turns’ at crossings to prevent accumulation of motorcycles.

But, the effectiveness of the drive is yet to be seen. Shop owners near Jawahar Bhawan said, “It’s not the first drive carried out on Ashok Marg. It’s a routine affair. Things will be back to square one in the next couple of days,” said Sushant Mishra, who runs a makeshift shop on Ashok Marg.
