‘VICIOUS CIRCLE’ AT BURLINGTON CROSSING

-

For most part of the day, traffic constantly pours in at Burlington crossing from four directions, but is diverted to only three directions. The road leading towards Vidhan Bhavan is closed for Metro work. Because of this, vehicles going towards Vidhan Bhawan are rerouted towards Qaiserbagh. This poses problems in managing traffic at the crossing. “It is not that easy to man traffic at Burlington crossing as here, the inflow is from all four directions whereas the outflow is only towards three directions. Some people drive towards the close end causing traffic jam at the crossing,” said Ravi Kumar, a traffic constable, who was manning the traffic here. Though the constable cited “irresponsible driving” as the reason for traffic congestion, commuters said there is no signage with information about the road block.
