PRAYA­GRAJ : Sud­hir Ku­mar aka Golden Baba was ar­rested in con­nec­tion with two FIRs lodged against him at Dara­ganj and Jhunsi po­lice sta­tions, po­lice said. Con­firm­ing the de­vel­op­ment, cir­cle of­fi­cer Ashutosh Mishra said Baba was taken for ques­tion­ing in con­nec­tion with the cases against him. He was later pro­duced in a court where he was granted bail, the po­lice said.

Baba, known for his love for wear­ing gold jew­ellery, was ar­rested from his rented house near Mau­ja­giri Ashram with three of his fol­low­ers late on Satur­day night. The Kumbh mela ad­min­is­tra­tion pro­vided Baba with a se­cu­rity guard. How­ever, the guard later lodged an FIR against him at Dara­ganj po­lice sta­tion al­leg­ing that he was forced to ac­com­pany Baba even out­side the state and was threat­ened when he raised ob­jec­tion. Ear­lier, an­other FIR of as­sault was reg­is­tered against Baba at Jhunsi po­lice sta­tion on the com­plaint of an­other per­son. Mean­while, Mela ad­min­is­tra­tion re­fused to pro­vide land to Baba in Mela area. Last month, Golden Baba was ex­pelled from Juna Akhada for al­leged bad be­hav­iour and us­ing lan­guage not con­form­ing to the laid down stan­dards of the Akhada.
