GOLDEN BABA HELD, GRANTED BAIL

PRAYAGRAJ : Sudhir Kumar aka Golden Baba was arrested in connection with two FIRs lodged against him at Daraganj and Jhunsi police stations, police said. Confirming the development, circle officer Ashutosh Mishra said Baba was taken for questioning in connection with the cases against him. He was later produced in a court where he was granted bail, the police said.

Baba, known for his love for wearing gold jewellery, was arrested from his rented house near Maujagiri Ashram with three of his followers late on Saturday night. The Kumbh mela administration provided Baba with a security guard. However, the guard later lodged an FIR against him at Daraganj police station alleging that he was forced to accompany Baba even outside the state and was threatened when he raised objection. Earlier, another FIR of assault was registered against Baba at Jhunsi police station on the complaint of another person. Meanwhile, Mela administration refused to provide land to Baba in Mela area. Last month, Golden Baba was expelled from Juna Akhada for alleged bad behaviour and using language not conforming to the laid down standards of the Akhada.
