Six killed in bus-truck collision

LUCKNOW: Six people, including a young woman and her minor daughter, were killed while 41 others were injured when a cement laden truck rammed into a bus ferrying passengers on National Highway -2 in Kalyanpur area of Fatehpur district on Sunday morning. Six seriously injured passengers were rushed to a Kanpur hospital while others were being treated at Fatehpur district hospital. According to police, the incident happened near Mohar village when the bus was heading towards Fatehpur from Kanpur and suddenly the truck came in front after its front tyre burst, at around 11.20 am. A gypsy and two motorcycli­sts also rammed into the bus from behind after its head-on collided with the truck. Fatehpur superinten­dent of police (SP) Rahul Raj confirmed that at least six people in the bus were killed while 41 others, including the truck driver, the gypsy driver and two motorcycli­sts, injured in the accident. He said those killed were identified as Shikha Tripathi, 25, her five-year-old daughter, Ankit Tewari, 20, Ratiram, 40, Fayyaz, 50, Vrindavan, 55. said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem while injured were rushed to different hospital, he added.
