FORMER MP QUITS BSP OVER ‘TICKET DENIAL’
LUCKNOW : After Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati announced an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday, senior BSP leader and former MP Reena Chaudhary resigned from the party on Sunday.
Chaudhary, who had represented Mohanlalganj Lok Sabha seat as a Samajwadi Party member (1998-99 and 1999-2004), has been denied a ticket for the general election, those familiar with the matter said.
In a letter to BSP state unit president RS Kushwaha, she said hardworking and loyal leaders were being sidelined while those having money and muscle power were being given preference in ticket distribution.
A BSP leader said Mayawati had decided to rejig the organisation before the Lok Sabha election to counter rebellion in the party. Performers will be given important posts while those who have failed to give the desired results will be sidelined, he said.
