FOR­MER MP QUITS BSP OVER ‘TICKET DE­NIAL’

LUCKNOW : After Bahu­jan Sa­maj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati an­nounced an al­liance with the Sa­ma­jwadi Party (SP) on Satur­day, se­nior BSP leader and for­mer MP Reena Chaudhary re­signed from the party on Sun­day.

Chaudhary, who had rep­re­sented Mo­han­lal­ganj Lok Sabha seat as a Sa­ma­jwadi Party mem­ber (1998-99 and 1999-2004), has been de­nied a ticket for the gen­eral elec­tion, those fa­mil­iar with the mat­ter said.

In a let­ter to BSP state unit pres­i­dent RS Kush­waha, she said hard­work­ing and loyal lead­ers were be­ing side­lined while those hav­ing money and mus­cle power were be­ing given pref­er­ence in ticket dis­tri­bu­tion.

A BSP leader said Mayawati had de­cided to re­jig the or­gan­i­sa­tion be­fore the Lok Sabha elec­tion to counter re­bel­lion in the party. Per­form­ers will be given im­por­tant posts while those who have failed to give the de­sired re­sults will be side­lined, he said.
