NRIs watch Kashi’s Ganga aarti
VARANASI : A group of 150 Non Resident Indians (NRIs) watched the majestic Ganga aarti at the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat on Sunday evening. Union sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also accompanied them.
The grand manner in which the world famous Aarti was performed left them spellbound. After watching the aarti, they took ‘Prashad’ and also visited temples.
They were seen capturing the whole event in their cameras. The Non Resident Indians who saw the Ganga aarti were from countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius and Surinam. Ganga Pujan was also conducted by the NRIs.
On the occasion, tourist police were seen all set to give a feel of Varanasi to NRI guest visiting Varanasi. Special guides have been arranged to help the NRIs visit the temples at the ghats. The guides were imparted behavioural training to deal with the NRIs.
Tourist police sub-inspector SK Upadhyay, who is deputed at the Dashashwamedh ghat to ensure arrangements, said, “We are all set to welcome the NRIs visiting the ghat special guides are deployed to help the NRIs for evening’s Ganga Aarti here.”
“Similar arrangements have been made at Rajghat, Assi ghat, Lalita ghat with sub-inspectors, constables and guides to help NRIs visiting the ghats,” he

The Dashashwamedh ghat police post in charge Pavan Kumar said law and order at the ghat was well taken care of and visitors’ friendly environment was being created with special arrangements of CCTV cameras.The NRI guests have come to the temple town to take part in the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention getting under way here on Monday.
