32 injured as bus hits road divider

LUCKNOW: As many 32 people were injured when a bus ferrying 50 passengers from Bihar rammed into a road divider opposite Para police station and turned turtle in the wee hours on Wednesday. Moreover, two other road accidents in Sarojinina­gar area claimed lives of three people while three others were injured in last 24 hours.

In Para, the incident took place when the bus was heading towards Delhi via Lucknow and rammed into the divider after the driver reportedly failed to spot it due to low visibility at around 3.20 am. Police said the bus climbed up on the divider before turning upside down causing injuries to at least 32 people but luckily no casualty was reported.

The district police spokesman said the injured were immediatel­y pulled out with help of locals and rushed to the hospital. As many as 20 passengers were treated at Lok Bandhu hospital in Krishna Nagar while 12 others were shifted to the trauma centre of King George Medical University as they suffered grievous injuries. The condition of one unidentifi­ed man was stated to be critical while other passengers were claimed to be out of danger. Two killed, 3 injured

In the separate accident, a speeding truck hit the crane in front of Amausi airport leaving two people dead and three others grievously injured. Police said both deceased and the injured persons were riding on the crane and were returning to Chinhat from some constructi­on site on Kanpur road at around 1.30 pm.

Sub-inspector DB Singh of Sarojinina­gar police station said those killed were identified as Devender Kumar of Barabanki and Sanjay of Deoria while three injured were Raj Kapur, Deepu Kumar and Mukesh. He said the truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Efforts were on to search him after registerin­g an FIR against him for negligent driving causing death and injuries.

LABOURER KILLED

In another accident near Sarojinina­gar’s Nadarganj locality, an unidentifi­ed vehicle hit a 25-year-old youth Sarvesh, the resident of Sitapur, while he was crossing the road at around 4.30 am. Sub-inspector Akhilesh Dwivedi said the deceased worked as labourer and his identity was ascertaine­d from Aadhar card recovered from his trousers.
