Rains bring down day temp, hit power supply
LUCKNOW: The average maximum temperature took a dip following showers at several places across the state on Wednesday.
The maximum temperature in Lucknow was recorded at 22.8 degree Celsius (dropped by three degrees) while the minimum was 14 degrees.
The Meteorological department predicted the possibility of rain at several places.
Kheri district recorded the maximum rainfall (8.4 cm) followed by Ballia (7.2 cm) and Gorakhpur (6 cm). As per Met experts, the rains were caused by a dip in pressure caused by influx of western winds. The effect is expected to remain for at least 48 hours, causing more rains.
The maximum day temperature in the state was recorded at 23.5 degrees from Sonebhadra. It was followed by Bahraich, Jhansi and Lucknow. In Prayagraj, the maximum was recorded at 20.3 degrees.
Power supply in three-quarters of Lucknow was hit by rain on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday.
Areas like Alambagh, Chander Nagar, Railway Powerhouse, Patel Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Sujanpuraa, Shanti Nagar, Barha, Mawaiyya, Ashiana, Balaganj, Hussainganj and Aishbagh remained without power till 8 am.
However, LESA officials claimed that the prolonged disruption in supply was due to the inefficiency of staff at substations.
“Restoration of power supply in some areas took longer than expected,” said LESA GM Madhukar Varma.
