UP eves win, but fail to enter Super League
LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday notched up a fascinating nine-wicket win against Meghalaya in a low-scoring game, but they failed to make the cut for Super League of the Women’s Under-23 Twenty League as they finished poor fourth in seven-team Group A at Kochi with three wins and three loses.
Needing 60 runs, Uttar Pradesh romped home in just five overs with opener Shivpriya Pandey stroking an unbeaten 48 in 22 balls with the help of 10 hits to the fence, at the Rajagiri College of Engineering and Technology Ground.
Decision to bat first winning the toss didn’t go well for inexperienced Meghalaya side as they kept losing wickets on regular intervals before being restricted to 59/9.
L Tamang (19, 33b, 2x4) and DD Dutta (16, 24b, 1x4) remained the key run getters.
Skipper Aditi remained the most successful bowler for UP, bagging 2/10, whereas Kshama, Rashi Kanojiya, Anjali Singh and Tanu Kala took a wicket each.
