Hooch claims four lives in Kushinagar

GORAKHPUR : Four people died while two others fell ill in two villages of Kushinagar district on Tuesday night after allegedly consuming spurious liquor triggering massive protests by local womenfolk. Initially, the administra­tion termed the deaths as normal but later decided to go in for post mortem to ascertain the cause of the deaths.

As per locals, on Tuesday night five labourers in Taryu Sujan village went to consume liquor after their day’s work. On returning they complained of vomiting and loose motions. While Deba Nishad (55), Heera Lal Nishad (33) and Awadh kishore Nishad (55) died soon Vikas (25) and Ram Deo (25) were rushed to CHC in critical condition. As their condition deteriorat­ed they were referred first to district hospital and then to BRD Medical College.

In neighborin­g Kanhwalia village one Chanchal Chauhan (45) died allegedly after consuming liquor on Tuesday night.
