I-T raids on mustard oil manufacturer’s premises
LUCKNOW : Income tax officials raided the premises of popular brand of mustard oil Saloni, owned by Shiv Kumar Rathore, who was a minister of state during Samajwadi Party government. Income tax authorities also raided various outlets and premises of the factory owner in Agra (19), Rajasthan (3), Kolkata (1), Delhi (2), Mathura (2) and Lucknow (1). “We have so far counted ₹3.80 crore of cash. The total cash we have seized could well be up to ₹5 crore at least,” income tax officials said.

The raids that began at 8.45 am continued till late on Wednesday, income tax authorities confirmed. I-T authorities listed Shiv Kumar Rathore, Dinesh Rathore, Phundi Lal Sharma and Santosh Kumar among others as the ‘main persons.’
Efforts to contact Rathore didn’t materialise. HT also sent smses to Rathore but there was no response.

Asked about the charges against those who were raided, an official said, “They included bogus expenditures, unaccounted receipts, inflated expenses and unaccounted investments.”
Income tax officials said substantial cash was also seized from a car in Lucknow.
A few days back, the income tax authorities had conducted raids on doctors and nursing homes across the state.
