PGI RESIDENT DOCS INTENSIFY PROTEST

-

LUCKNOW: Intensifying their protest for parity in salary with their AIIMS counterparts, senior resident doctors of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) have decided to work for just eight hours as per the labour laws, till their demands are met.

The office bearers of SGPGIMS senior residents association after meeting with all the senior resident doctors decided that they would work only for eight hours as working extra hours violates the labour laws.

The senior resident doctors would also meet principal secretary, medical education and minister of health education, Ashutosh Tandon, to press for their demands. Meanwhile, director SGPGIMS Rakesh Kapoor has warned senior resident doctors of any such action which could harm their interests in future as he was already working on the issue with the state government and trying to get parity for them.

“When SGPGIMS faculty forum is pressing for their case in the state then why they want to affect the daily functioning of the hospital. It could have an adverse effect on their demands,” said Kapoor.

Senior resident doctors of the SGPGIMS have been protesting for parity with AIIMS senior residents in terms of salary and perks since last Wednesday.
