HC dismisses PIL challenging UPP HQ shift
PRAYAGRAJ :The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL challenging shifting of UP Police headquarters from Allahabad to Gomtinagar, Lucknow. Dismissing the PIL filed by advocate Devendra Vikram Singh, a division bench comprising chief justice Govind Mathur and justice CD Singh said that shifting of the head office of the state police is a policy decision of the state government. Therefore, the court cannot interfere in the same. In the PIL, the petitioner had challenged the decision saying that police headquarters of Uttar Pradesh is the glory of Prayagraj. Besides, at Lucknow, there will be several kinds of interferences in its functioning.
